It is not difficult to make a pond with a bioplato with your own hands

Pond in the country - an excellent decoration for a personal plot. Landscape designers place an artificial reservoir, as a rule, in a recreation area. You can put benches and tables near the pond, making a dining area. If you arrange a bioplato next to the pond, you can put fish into the water and spend time with a fishing rod in your area.

Pond arrangement

For an artificial reservoir, it is necessary to dig a pit with a depth of at least 2 m. The pit is dug by hand, using a shovel, so as not to damage the soil structure and avoid landslides. Then the bottom and walls of the future pond are covered with a reinforced mesh. To strengthen its banks, the inner surface of the tank is concreted with a 10 cm layer of waterproof mortar.

The concrete cover is covered with a plaster mesh, and then 2 cm of special plaster is applied on top. Then you can start painting the coating. If you choose yellow paint, then the water in the pond will have a greenish tint, and if you paint the walls of the tank with blue paint, the water will appear dark blue. For normal circulation of water and its saturation with oxygen, an aerator is installed in the pond. It is not worth buying an air pump that is too powerful. With an excess of oxygen in the reservoir, lower algae will begin to develop, and the water surface will very quickly become covered with mud.

For planting higher algae in the pond, you can make underwater terraces like an alpine slide in the garden. If you pour rubble along the edges of the tiers, and install a wooden covering in the center, you will get decorative steps for descending into the pond.

Arrangement of bioplato

To filter water in the pond, a bioplato is arranged next to it. It is a reservoir with a slope, which is filled with rubble and sand. Usually, this reservoir is dug at the same level as the pond, but if your site has water pipes close to the soil surface, the bioplato can be installed on supports.

For normal operation of the bioplato you need:

• fill it with water from a pond;
• install a fine mesh filter on one of its walls;
• plant marsh plants in it, which will absorb excess nitrogen from the water.

After settling in the bioplato for two days, the water will pass through the filter mesh back into the pond, which will help to get rid of debris. Bloodworms develop well in the bioplato, which is an excellent food for fish.
