Solution to the morning glory dilemma: either foliage or flowers

morning glory garden decoration Luxury is loved not only by people, but also by flowers. Ipomoea is a perfect example of this. By planting a plant in fertile soil, the gardener receives a dense green weave, consisting mostly of leaves. If you plant it on poor soils, then it mobilizes all its energy for the formation of ovaries and, as a result, flowering.

Dreaming of admiring luxurious buds, flower growers plant crops in soil with a low nitrogen and humus content. It is propagated by seedlings using different containers.

The battle between the bucket and the peat cups

The first step is to prepare several metal buckets. Drainage holes are made at the bottom of each - 2-3 holes. Then they are filled with soil. In another container, put from 2 to 4 peat cups.

Then the seeds are soaked for 24 hours. You can take several varieties of morning glory, in case something does not come up. At the end of the period, the water is drained and the look of the grains is considered. They should hatch. The absence of sprouts indicates that the seeds are empty, which means they may not sprout. Then the landing procedure follows:

  • grains are laid out on the surface of the earth at a short distance from each other;
  • cover them with a layer of dry compost;
  • compact, but with light pressure;
  • send the buckets to the greenhouse.

In pots with peat make indentations with a finger - 2 cm. Dip several seeds into them. Since night frosts are always expected during planting of seedlings, the tanks are covered with a thick film. You can take the packaging option - with pimples. A month later, the expected shoots appear.

Special supports for the plant are made on the site. Some use regular arches, while others use simple rods stuck into the ground.

Each planting option is transferred to open ground. Only a bucket of seedlings remains in the same form, and peat cups are planted on the garden bed. At the same time, breaks are made on both sides of the pots, but without damaging the root system. The procedure is carried out on a rainy day, and then water the seedling with water.

Outcome of an Unusual Battle

As the experiment shows, the flowers planted in a bucket bloomed after 2 months. It should be noted that they did not manage to braid even half of the arch (height - 2.5 m). The varieties that were planted in cups took a very long time to get accustomed to new conditions. However, the first bud appeared at the very base of the stem. This is a sign that the morning glory will eventually bloom very profusely.

The conclusion is obvious. If the gardener wants to get green mass, then the plant is planted on fertile soil, and if magnificent flowering - in poor soil. Better to plant it directly in open ground.
