Installation and piping of a water heater
You can install the water heater yourself. To do this, use a strapping of metal-plastic or polypropylene pipes. The piping system does not differ when choosing a particular type of pipe. Polypropylene pipes, despite the apparent ease of installation, require certain skills. Consider the water heater piping system.
Strapping system
The piping system consists of several pipes, stopcocks, a mud filter, transition couplings and American women. If you use a strapping made of metal-plastic pipes, then you need to install stopcocks on the American women. Then, a coupling and a piece of pipe are screwed onto the cold water supply tap, on which a tee is installed to drain the water.
Then, using a wrench, another adapter coupling, a piece of pipe and a mud filter are screwed onto the tee. Another shut-off valve is installed to drain the water. A shut-off valve is also installed at the hot water inlet.
To install a metal-plastic strapping system, wrenches of different diameters, a drill and fastening sleeves are required.
Installation of polypropylene pipes
On average, it takes more than two hours to install a piping made of metal-plastic pipes, so many novice plumbers install only polypropylene pipes. But there are many nuances in the installation of polypropylene pipes. They are connected using a special soldering iron.
If the pipes are overheated, then their inner diameter will decrease, and the water pressure will drop.
When installation of polypropylene pipes it is necessary to accurately mark the connection line with the outlet of cold and hot water, since when the piping system is soldered using a large number of polypropylene couplings, the pipes can overheat. Installation must be done on a comfortable work surface. This will make it easier to align the pipes.
If it is not enough to heat the pipes, then they will not be welded, and the piping system of the water heater will leak. For a pipe with a diameter of 20 mm, the heating time is 5 seconds.
You can put the pipes on the soldering iron by scrolling them a little, and you need to connect the pipes in one motion. Then they are fixed for 8 seconds. You have 4 seconds to correct the misalignment of the pipe connection. To increase the thickness of the inner wall, cut pipes 30 mm long. The pipe sections must be firmly attached to the soldering iron. The embedment depth of the pipe is 15 mm.
