What is special about Abutilone Bell?

abutilone bella Many growers believe that Bella abutilon is a varietal variety of a flower. In a sense, they are right, but Bella is not one of the species, it is a whole series of hybrid varieties that share common characteristics.

This hybrid first appeared at the end of the twentieth century in America. Through the efforts of breeders, as a result of crossing various varieties, a special type of abutilones was obtained, intended for indoor (more precisely, "window sill") cultivation.

Until that time, abutilons could most often be found in gardens, since the plants are quite decent in size and not everyone has the opportunity to keep a huge 2-meter bush or tree in the house.

Varietal features

Bella series abutilones have the following characteristics:

  • the bushes are small and compact, which makes them very convenient for growing indoors;
  • have small internodes;
  • flowering profuse and long;
  • flowers in hybrids are wide open;
  • plants practically do not require pinching, since they branch well on their own.

Varieties of Bela series abutilones

Today, among Bella hybrids, there are varieties with the most varied color of inflorescences. They are obtained as a result of cross-pollination and all belong to this series. But 7 hybrids were originally bred abutilone, which laid the foundation for all other varieties and became their parents. These include:

  • Vanilla (light vanilla shade, close to white);
  • Yellow (yellow inflorescences);
  • Red (bright red flowers);
  • Deep Red (dark red);
  • Deep Coral (dark coral inflorescences);
  • Epricot Shades (apricot color);
  • Salmon Shades (salmon colored).

How to distinguish Bella from other hybrids?

Due to the fact that all abutilones are still a little similar to each other, it is easy for an inexperienced grower to confuse them, especially if there is a desire to purchase a compact plant for the home, and not a tall bush. After all, the shape of the leaves and even the color of flowers can be very similar. So that the chosen flower does not disappoint, when buying, you need to pay attention to the appearance of the bush.

Even if the plant has wide-open flowers, but at the same time it is tall and has few side shoots, it is most likely a common hybrid variety. Over time, he will grow tall, so such a flower cannot be attributed to Bells.
