There are varieties with simple or double buds, and the color represents all the colors of the rainbow, from white to almost black. Flowering lasts all summer.

Forest mallow is grown as an annual plant, although according to the biological development cycle it is more related to biennials.

Perennial mallow

Of the perennial species, the following mallows are most often found:

  1. Sudanese (aka Sabdariffa, hibiscus). It is grown for the fruits that are used for brewing tea and drinks. It can be shrubby and tree-like.
  2. Hybrid. Differs in the presence of several stems in a plant up to 2 m high. Inflorescences are pink or white, double, large. Blooms from early summer to early autumn. Varieties: Chaters Double, Gibortello, Powder Pafs.
  3. Musky (aka nutmeg). A compact plant no higher than 1 m in height. The flowers are also small, a maximum of 5 cm in diameter, but very fragrant, white or pink. Varieties: White and Pink towers 70 cm high with simple buds of the corresponding color, blooming until late autumn.
  4. Wrinkled (aka alcea wrinkled). It grows up to 2 m, blooms with small yellow inflorescences.
