All about aphid aphids

ants carrying aphids Ants cause great harm to plants in the garden. These insects carry aphids through fruit trees. It feeds on plant sap and reduces the yield, and if the aphid colonies are large, then the plant does not bear fruit at all and may die. During the construction of anthills, ants gnaw through the roots of plants, because of which even a strong tree can die. If you do not fight ants, then these insects can spread throughout the entire area.

Chemical methods of fighting ants

Boric acid will help destroy ants. Dissolve one tablespoon of sugar and a third of a teaspoon of boric acid in two tablespoons of warm water. Leave the solution in a saucer near the nest. Insects are very fond of sweets, so the ants will begin to make supplies of poison, feed the entire colony and the uterus with poison. Eating this poisonous mixture, the ants will die.

Important! If you increase the concentration of boric acid in the mixture, then the insects will die before they have time to make enough supplies to infect the entire colony. You can spray an anthill with insecticide and kill the ants faster.

Ants feed on aphid milk, so they carry it throughout the site. If you kill aphids, you will deprive the ant colony of a large amount of food, so treat the plants with insecticides.

Folk methods of fighting ants

If you do not want to use "chemistry" on your site, then you can fight ants using folk methods. Insects secrete formic acid throughout their life, so the acidity of the soil increases. At the same time, the ants do not tolerate the presence of other acids in the soil. Therefore, you can spray the anthill with a citrus acid solution, dissolving in water orange zest or lemon.

You can also treat the nest with an infusion of onions or garlic. Cut one onion into cubes along with the husk, then fill it with warm water. Let the solution sit for a few hours, then strain it and spray the nest every day. Insects will leave it in three days after several sprays. Garlic infusion will have the same effect on ants. One head of garlic should be infused for two to three days.

You can fight ants with yeast. Prepare a 1/1 mixture of yeast and sugar and leave it near the nest. The insects will start stockpiling this mixture by adding it with other food for the colony. The fermentation process will begin, and all the stocks of ants will deteriorate. Insects will be forced to leave the anthill, and their larvae will die.
