Secrets of growing and flowering violets
Not every flower lover takes on growing violets. Despite their soft beauty, their character is quite changeable and capricious - the slightest mistake in leaving or even a short-term change in the conditions of detention immediately affects their appearance.
However, not everything is so sad, because knowing some secrets, it is quite possible not only to maintain violets in a "healthy body", but also to wait for a gorgeous bloom, prolong it and even get children.
Removal of leaves and peduncles
In order for the flowering of violets to be longer, it is necessary to remove the leaves and peduncles. There is one caveat - if the peduncles are removed when they dry up, then it is not necessary to wait for the leaves.
As soon as the old leaf plate on the lower tier of the rosette began to lose its bright green color and began to turn yellow, the leaf can be torn off. It will still disappear over time, but by that time it will continue to draw juices from the bush, depriving the young foliage of adequate nutrition. The violet simply does not have enough strength to plant new buds.
Proper watering
To Saintpaulia bloomed for as long as possible, they should be provided with regular, but moderate watering, so that the soil is constantly slightly moist, preventing it from completely drying out.
There are three ways to water violets:
- in a pot;
- into the pallet;
- through the wick.
If the plant is watered occasionally and the old leaves and peduncles are not removed, there will be no new buds on the bush.
Correct pot
For violets choose small, flat planters. In such a container, they will bloom faster, and the flowering will be longer, since the plant will not need to spend energy on overall growth. If you plant a violet in a wide and deep pot, it will actively grow roots to fill the space. In addition, the flower will begin to multiply, and over time, a large thickened bush of several outlets, but without flowers, will sit in the container. On them, again, the violet will have no strength.
Violets bloom only when their root system completely fills the pot.
Correct fit
Planting a bush is also important for the flowering of violets. This means that the trunk must not be left above ground level. Firstly, it is simply ugly, because when the lower old leaves fall off, the stem will become bare. Secondly, such a violet will also bloom badly.
Correct temperature and humidity
For violets, the comfortable temperature in the room should be no more than 20 degrees Celsius. At higher rates, it will not bloom.
In hot summers, and especially with dry indoor air, it is advisable to spray violets. But it is better to do this in the bathroom, and you can return the flower to the windowsill not earlier than it dries completely after the procedure, otherwise sunburn is possible.
Good drainage
Violet is very afraid of stagnant moisture, its roots quickly begin to rot from this and you can completely lose the flower. To prevent this from happening, a drainage layer must be laid in the pot during planting.
Most flower growers use expanded clay, but foam, cut into pieces, has also proven itself well. You can put some dried banana peels on top.
