In order to grow high-quality seedlings, you need to make a seed support and germinate correctly basil.

Preparing the container and growing seedlings

A clear plastic container should be used as a container for basil seedlings, so the seeds will get more sunlight. A paper towel folded in half is placed at the bottom of the container. It softens less than toilet paper and allows the seeds to be evenly distributed over the container after wetting. A paper towel is well moistened from a spray bottle with a weak solution of the Epin preparation. To prepare it, add three drops of a growth stimulant to 500 ml of warm water. Then the basil seeds are poured onto a paper towel and spread over the entire area of the container so that there is a distance of 1.5 cm between them. The plastic container is covered with an opaque plastic bag.

Use shoe covers to cover the container. They are well fixed on the container and do not let in sunlight, and thanks to the sewn-in elastic band, the shoe covers will not need to be tied additionally.

The covered container with seeds is placed in a dark, warm place, for example, on a cabinet, for three days. After three to five days, the seeds will hatch. Then they need to be removed from the cabinet and the opaque plastic bag removed. Seeds should be lightly sprinkled with dry, fertile soil. After two to three days, the basil will give its first shoots. The seedlings must again be covered with dry soil. Watering is done before the sprouts appear from the soil. Thanks to such germination, you will exclude rotting of young roots with excessive watering, and also prevent the sprouts from reaching the sun and get high-quality seedlings. The basil should be in a sunny location, such as a southern windowsill.
