In regions of Russia with a cold climate, capuchins are grown in seedlings. In order to get high quality seedlings in a short time, nasturtium seeds need to be planted in hot sawdust.

Preparing the seedling container

A clear plastic container can be used to grow seedlings. In it, the sprouts will get more sunlight. Drainage holes are made in the bottom of the container and sawdust is poured into it.

If you are unable to find sawdust, buy cat pellets from the pet store toilets... They contain sand and compressed sawdust.

The sawdust layer must be at least 5 cm thick in order for the root system nasturtium there was enough room for development. Then the granules must be filled with hot water.

Planting nasturtium seeds in a common container

In order for the seeds to sprout quickly, do not bury them in sawdust. It is necessary to plant nasturtium to a depth of 1.5 cm. Nasturtium seeds will take root in sawdust and sprout friendly shoots within four days. To speed up the emergence of seedlings, cover the container with seedlings with a plastic bag.

After the first shoots appear, the container with seedlings must be opened, since the greenhouse effect negatively affects the aboveground part of the plants.

Planting capuchins in separate cups

After the nasturtium forms two seven-lobed leaves, it is planted in sandy loam soil with the addition of garden perlite in separate containers, which are placed in glasses of water.

In order to increase the amount of water that will flow into the seedling cup, you need to pass a tube from the dropper through one of the drainage holes. The plant will constantly receive water from the bottom container, and you do not have to monitor the soil moisture. Add water to the lower container periodically.

Cups with seedlings must be placed on the southern windowsill. Then the flowers can be planted in open ground.
