Cleaning the boiler body, replacing taps and supply hoses

boiler repair The boiler provides an apartment or house with hot water 365 days a year. But the water in the pipes of the central water supply is very hard. Gradually, the body of the water heater and heating elements become scaled and clogged, and the supply hoses and stopcocks fail. Therefore, the trim elements must be replaced, and the body and Heating elements - clean at least once a year.

Dismantling and cleaning the tank

When disassembling the boiler to clean the tank, for safety reasons, disconnect the equipment from the power supply, then drain the water from the tank, remove the bottom cover and take out the water heating element. Next, disconnect all the wires, having previously marked the sockets with electrical tape of different colors, so that during assembly they do not confuse the wire connection points.

In order not to confuse the sockets when connecting the wires after cleaning the boiler body, you can take a picture of the wire connection on the phone before disassembling.

Next, use a shower hose to rinse the boiler from scale with a strong jet of water.

To better clean the tank from scale and dirt, remove the boiler from the mount and rinse the body with an acid solution.

Clean the heating elements with a solution of citric or acetic acid, leaving the heating elements in the solution for 1.5-2 hours.

After cleaning, reassemble the case by doing all the steps in reverse order.

If the boiler cover is bolted with a rubber gasket between it and the body, be careful not to overtighten the bolts. Otherwise, you run the risk of crushing the rubber pad. The boiler will flow.

Plumbing work to clean the boiler should be carried out at least once a year.

Replacing the boiler piping

If your boiler's piping consists of flexible hoses, periodically check their condition. Especially often the flexible cold water supply hose leaks due to the high pressure and hardness of the pipeline water.

It is better to purchase flexible stainless steel hoses as they will last longer.

If there is too much scale in the boiler, it clogs the stopcocks. They fail quickly and must be replaced. Use stopcocks from trusted manufacturers. Do not buy duralumin steel faucets, as they can crack over time. Better to use copper or stainless steel ball valves. It will prevent scale from the boiler from penetrating inside the shut-off valve.
