Ruffled beauty of petunia Superbissima

I have long dreamed of a curly-haired Superbissima petunia, but such a variety is very rare in our store. And recently, a bag of seeds was brought to me from afar by friends, on it is a photo of a variety with pink flowers. Please tell us about the Superbissima petunia. Does it have species with a different color of inflorescences? I would like a darker color.

superbissima Perhaps the highest demand among florists is for large-flowered petunias... Well, how can you not fall in love with these huge bright flowers covering a green bush? However, there is a special species among them that amazes with their charm - these are Superbissima petunias. This is where the name accurately reflects the appearance of the plant. Its simply huge inflorescences have not only large sizes, but also a unique color, and also differ in the structure and shape of the petals, making it easy to distinguish Superbissima from other species.

What does Superbissima look like?

Large-flowered petunia Superbissima grows in a low bush, the maximum height of which rarely exceeds 50 cm, but its shoots are quite long (50 cm) and branched. This makes petunia the queen of hanging planters.

At the beginning of summer, the first unusual inflorescences appear on petunias:

  • they are very large, on average 12 cm in diameter, but some species have a full 16 cm;
  • the edges of the petals are strongly corrugated;
  • the flower has a wide-open, purple throat, on which darker veins are clearly traced.

The color of the inflorescences depends on the variety, but mainly these are different shades of pink and purple, as well as white.

According to the observations of experienced flower growers, with frequent pinching of this type of petunia, its inflorescences become smaller, but retain all the other characteristics of the variety.

Popular varieties

The most spectacular representative of the Superbissim petunia is the Jabot series. It is distinguished by compact bushes no more than 35 cm in height, but at the same time the largest and most corrugated inflorescences. They can be pink, blue, purple.

Large inflorescences have delicate petals at the edges, but a very dense throat, which makes them resistant to rain and wind.

Such varieties of Superbissima look no less impressive, such as:

  1. Triumph - pink inflorescences are diluted with a white border, which on several petals reaches the very center of the throat.triumph
  2. Dark purple petunia with matching flowers.dark purple
  3. Rosea - with pink petals, on which are traced dark purple veins, and an almost black center.rosea
  4. Alba - white petals are painted with purple veins.alba
