How to get rid of weeds at their summer cottage

weeds on the site In the summer cottage, weeds appear two weeks earlier than cultivated plants. They tolerate severe frosts and summer heat equally well. Weeds are direct competitors to cultivated plants. They deplete the soil in the beds, leaving no room for plantings to develop. Due to the resistance of weed seeds to chemical treatments and their ability to remain viable for up to six years, it will not be possible to completely get rid of weeds on the site. But it is quite possible to make the fight against them take less time and effort. Consider several ways to control weeds.

Growing green manure

Green manure roots oppress the weed root system. If you sow rye in a weed bed, then in three weeks the weeds will die and rot. They will be an excellent soil fertilizer. This method is suitable for removing dandelions, mullein, turf and other weeds with a developed root system from the site. It is not recommended to cut off the green mass with a Fokin plane cutter, since by chopping off part of the root, you can multiply such weeds even more. As siderates you can also use barley and mustard.

Artificial burnout of weeds

The area where cultivated plants are not planted can be covered with transparent cellophane wrap. At noon, such a film is poured over with water. Drops, focusing sunlight, act as lenses. Even the most stubborn weeds are burned by the sun's rays.

You can also burn the roots of the weed with chemicals. For this, herbicides are used.

Removing young weeds

Young weeds can be removed with a shovel and rake. Dig up the entire plant to prevent root propagation. A rake can remove the overhead part of the weed. A young root system will not be able to throw out a new sprout and will rot without sunlight. The green mass of the weed can be added to the compost heap.

You can add weeds to compost if there are no seeds on them. If you cut the weed after flowering and add it to the compost heap, then when you add such compost to the planting pits, the weeds will spread throughout the site.

Some weeds only grow on acidic soils. Among them are fern, plantain and horsetail. You can get rid of these weeds by changing the acid-base balance of the soil. Do this by sprinkling slaked lime over the beds.

You can also remove weeds by spraying them with a strong solution of ammonium nitrate. In 10 liters of water, you need to dissolve 1 kg of ammonium nitrate. Weeds need to be sprayed with such a solution until seedlings of cultivated plants appear.

Hello! This year I decided to buy 15 mulard ducks, among them 2 are females. When they were 2 months and 10 days old, males began to mate with females. I separated females from males, now males mate with males. Why is this happening? I wanted to grow up to 4 months, now I have to cut the walking males.

Mulard are one year old ducks. They never breed. It is possible to accurately determine the sex of a bird no earlier than 3 months. Most likely, you simply do not distinguish females from drakes - this is the first. The second option is that your bird may begin cannibalism, in which the ducks not only pinch feathers, but may even slaughter each other. You need to feed mulard up to 4 months only if you like fat ducks. They do not gain meat, and the fat layer increases.

Hello Natalia! Thanks for the answer, females differ from drakes in size and also females are loud. Only drakes walk in the wild. When they were 1 month old, one duckling pecked at the wings of other ducklings.
