Lawn maintenance consists of several steps that are necessary for the correct formation of a beautiful area. What tools are needed for the lawn when performing the basic tasks of feeding, mowing, aerating and cultivating the soil, weeding and sowing grass seeds?

Formation of appearance

Keeping the lawn in good condition requires effort on the part of the property owner. To care for the appearance of a green lawn, use:

  • garden rake for leveling the soil surface at the stage of lawn preparation, as well as for tamping the rolled lawn;
  • a fan rake is used to remove felt, debris, dead and mown grass, leaves from the lawn;
  • a garden vacuum cleaner, which performs a cleaning function, it removes small and large debris and leaves from the lawn;
  • a shovel, which is needed to prepare the soil before planting a lawn mixture or spreading a roll lawn, for cleaning weeds and performing restoration work;
  • a manual roller, which compresses the soil after planting lawn grass seeds;
  • root extractor is used to remove weeds;
  • a hard broom, it is removed from the earthen bumps formed by worms, ants, moles;
  • semicircular blade for separating the rolled lawn and creating an even edge.

Aeration devices

Lawn Aerator Machine

Providing free air access to plant roots is a necessary step in lawn care. Various devices are used for aeration:

  • lawn forks are the simplest and most affordable tool used for aeration and surface drainage;
  • rake-aerators are made of thin plates and carefully cut the sod without damaging the soil;
  • sandals-aerators are used for small areas of lawns, the principle of operation is simple: put on your feet and walk on the lawn, thereby loosening the top layer of turf;
  • roller aerators are easy to use and are similar in principle to other mechanical loosening devices;
  • electric aerators, scarifiers are used in small and medium-sized areas for loosening and cleaning the surface of the lawn;
  • gasoline aerators are necessary on medium and large areas, often not only pierce the soil, but also clean the lawn of debris and weeds.

Lawn mowing equipment

Lawn mowing tools can be distinguished into a separate group:

  • mechanical lawn mowers work well with young grass, are quiet and environmentally friendly, designed for regular use in small areas, do not remove overgrown grass;
  • a lawn mower without grass catcher is used to combine mowing and mulching in hot weather;
  • electric and gasoline lawn mowers are designed to work on large areas, they can be non-self-propelled and self-propelled, differ in the types of knives, the number of wheels, width of capture, power;
  • electric and gasoline trimmers are relevant for working in hard-to-reach places: around the trunks of bushes and trees, under benches, near flower beds.

With the help of what is watering and feeding carried out?

Watering the lawn on the site

For regular watering in the summer use:

  • watering cans, sprayers, hoses;
  • an automatic irrigation system with sprinklers, which evenly distributes water over the site without washing out or damaging the cover.

For spring and autumn application of various kinds of dressings and fertilizers, use:

  • a mechanical seeder that is suitable for uniform application of granular and dry fertilizers;
  • a sprayer that evenly sprays liquid fertilizers.

The choice of the number and necessity of this or that type of lawn care tool depends on the area and type of lawn, the subjective views of the owner and material costs.
