Cultivator operating rules

cultivator at work A cultivator is a mechanism for digging and loosening the soil. The working body of the cultivator is the shaft on which the digging tools are installed: cutters, spiral-shaped attachments or irregular cross-shaped attachments. The torque is generated by a gasoline engine. Manufacturers produce cultivators, mainly equipped with a manual starter.

If you use the walk-behind tractor incorrectly, then it will quickly fail.

Preparing the cultivator for work

At the beginning of the season, before the spring work, new oil is poured into the engine of the cultivator. Any internal combustion engine equipped with a manual starter must be warmed up before digging a site. To do this, turn the throttle control knob, close the engine choke and start the fuel supply. Then set the maximum number of revolutions and start the engine. In this mode cultivator should work for a few minutes. Then open the choke and reduce the number of revolutions by half. After two to three minutes, the cultivator engine will warm up, and you can start digging the soil.

Digging the soil

Digging the site for better loosening of the soil should be done in two passes. If your cultivator is equipped with reverse gear, use this feature to avoid turning and digging a second time faster. The reverse travel of the cultivator is very convenient when using it in small areas.

If there is no reverse gear on your cultivator, then you will have to use the transport wheels for turning, which will reduce the speed of tillage and increase labor costs.

Before processing the soil, it is necessary to sharpen the cutters, then it will be possible to remove the transport wheels. Well-sharpened cutters dig into the ground better and loosen the soil at great depths. To prevent the cutters from reaching the surface, a brake claw must be used when processing the soil. The depth of digging is regulated by the height of the brake claw attachment.

Some cultivators are equipped with a three-speed gearbox. They are intended for digging up virgin soil. Such cultivators are equipped with a powerful engine and are equipped with additional attachments: a plow, a potato digger, a spiral cutter.
