Choosing the right engine oil

motor oil In order to choose the right car oil, you need to pay attention to its type. There are motor oils on the market from different manufacturers and in different price categories. The right oil does not have to be the most expensive one, as the base characteristics are the same for motor oils of the same type.

Car brand approval

An engine oil tolerance or specification indicates compatibility with different engine brands. For example, for KIA or Renault, oils of the Dexos2 type are suitable with an approval for the corresponding car brand.

If the wrong oil is added to the engine, lacquer deposits will form on the surface of the parts, which will reduce the life of the engine.

It is worth remembering that engine oils of the same line have approvals for different brands of cars, for example, if you fill Renault Logan with Elf evolution 900 NF, then a large amount of dirt and varnish deposits will form on the engine. Renault owners should switch to Elf evolution 900 SXR oil. Try to fill the engine with Korean engine oil "ZIC X9". After NF, you will feel a huge difference. Although the canister of Korean oil does not have an admission to Renault cars, the admission is indicated on the official website of the manufacturer.

Dexos2 engine oils

The type and technology of oil production is also an important indicator. Motor oils like Dexos2 have the same additives and can be mixed. Engine oil manufacturer ExxonMobil officially allows its Dexos2 type products to be mixed with other engine oils of the same type. Feel free to fill the engine with Dexos2 oil and do not pay attention to the brand. It all depends only on your preferences: if you want to save money, fill the engine with oil from the domestic manufacturer Lukoil.

You load the car heavily, choose a Shell engine oil, and if you often drive at high speeds, choose the Motul brand.

Manufacturing technology

Motor oils are manufactured using different technologies. There are synthetic ones made entirely from natural gas. These oils last longer and need to be changed less frequently. Pure Plus manufacturing technology ensures almost complete combustion of all components, which reduces varnish deposits.

There are also natural oils that extend the life of engine parts and form a protective oil film on them. This film is provided by the Titanium FST manufacturing technology.

Do not confuse original products with licensed ones. Licensed oils are motor oils of other brands that have received a license for use in engines of a certain car brand, and original oils are of the same brand used at a car assembly plant.

Genuine oils are often very expensive, so look for a licensed replacement in stores.

For myself, I have long ago decided on engine oil, I made a choice in favor of German quality, this is Liquid Moli oil. I have been filling it for 3 years already, mmm, no problems have arisen with either the engine or the car as a whole.
