Examples of decorating flower beds from bottles

I have stocks of plastic and glass bottles at my dacha. I have long dreamed of making original flower beds out of them, but I can’t define their appearance. Help me make a decision - please give examples of bottle flower beds.

Recently, flower beds are becoming more and more popular, for the creation of which they use plastic or glass bottles. This material attracts attention due to its simplicity in processing and lack of financial investments. After all, everyone has stocks of plastic containers (large or small), and there will always be glass bottles. It remains to show a little imagination - and the original flower bed is ready. In addition, in such a flower bed, the soil will remain moist longer and it is easy to care for it - the planted flowers will not go outside the flower bed, and the weeds will not penetrate from the outside. Some examples of decorating flower beds from bottles are discussed in the article.

Flowerbed-animal from one container

A flower bed created from one plastic bottle of various sizes is suitable for those who have little space on the site, in addition, such a flower bed can be rearranged or decorated with ready-made flower beds. The shape depends on the size of the plastic container. From 2-liter bottles you get cute little animals, and from a 5-liter bottle - a fabulous pig.

To do this, cut a hole on one side of a plastic bottle, into which flowers will later be planted. On the back side (the bottom of the flower bed), make drainage holes. From the neck to make a muzzle, and from the cut out piece of plastic - the necessary parts such as a tail, ears, legs, etc. It remains only to paint the beast in your favorite color.

These flower beds in the form of animals and even equipment can be made:

The shape of such a flower bed depends only on desire, you can lay it out in the form of some kind of geometric figure (circle, oval, square) or give the shape of an animal or bird. For the construction of a flower bed, plastic bottles of any volume are suitable: for a small flower bed - half-liter containers, respectively, for a larger flower bed, it is better to take two-liter containers. Glass bottles of the same color can be used instead of plastic containers.

The design technology is as follows:

  1. In the area designated for the flowerbed, make a markup and dig a not very deep groove along it, the width of which is equal to the thickness of the bottle, and the depth is about half of its height.
  2. Fill the container with earth or sand (which is available) - this is necessary so that the bottles are more stable and do not fall out.
  3. Place the bottles in the groove tightly to each other, avoiding the formation of cracks.
  4. Bury a moat with bottles and stomp well.
  5. If desired, paint the protruding part of the bottles.

The main difference between this flower bed is that, due to its size, it will most likely be stationary. An old barrel or stacked tires are suitable as a base. If there is a bottom at the base of the flower bed, drainage holes must be made in it.

To build a flower bed, you must:

  • establish the basis for the flower bed;
  • prepare a cement mortar (1: 2);
  • starting from the bottom, apply a solution to the base of the flower bed;
  • lay out the first row of bottles, pressing them into the cement;
  • Lay the next layer of bottles on top of the first in a checkerboard pattern, and so on - to the desired height of the flower bed.

When the solution hardens, pour crushed stone or pebbles for drainage inside the flower bed (to the bottom), and on top - nutrient soil for plants.

There are still a lot of examples of flower bed design using bottles, the main thing is to show a little imagination, and elegant flower beds will delight with their appearance all year round.

    Please tell me, won't plastic bottles in the garden deform in winter? We may have minus 40 in winter.

      I have had plastic bottles as a fence for several years now. Made two options - filled with earth and water. Those that are filled with soil stand intact without any changes. And with water, some had to be replaced this year.
