Christmas toys from scotch reels - we make beautiful things out of trash

Christmas toys from scotch reels Today, every home uses scotch tape for one purpose or another (for example, to glue a book), and empty spools are usually thrown away. Did you know that, with a little imagination, you can make beautiful Christmas decorations from scotch tape reels? We decorate them a little - and a simple cardboard cylinder turns into an original pendant for a New Year's beauty. If you love handicraft, let's make this miracle together.

We prepare materials

In order to make a toy, we need:

  • empty reel of tape (wide, at least 6 cm high);
  • satin ribbon (can be narrow or wide);
  • glue;
  • New Year's cards, gift boxes;
  • shiny braid;
  • plastic silver tape;
  • small bumps;
  • a twig from an artificial tree;
  • shiny rope;
  • acrylic lacquer;
  • silver gouache;
  • brush.

If you don't have a reel, you can use a plastic mayonnaise or tea jar to frame the toy. Just cut out a circle of the desired size from it. And instead of a ribbon, wrap the workpiece with strips of beautiful fabric.

Christmas decorations from scotch reels: step by step production

In this case, the reel itself acts as the frame of the toy, that is, it is already ready, you do not need to do anything else. You just need to decorate it so that the cardboard is not visible, and decorate it. Decorating is done by wrapping a bobbin with satin ribbon.

You can fix the beginning of the tape by either placing it on glue or using double-sided tape. So let's get started:

  1. We glue the tip to the inside of the cylinder with glue or tape.
  2. We wrap the bobbin in a circular motion, superimposing each row on top of each other. Beautiful folds are obtained.
  3. At the end of the winding, glue the edge of the tape onto tape or glue.
  4. Cut out pictures from the box and postcard. The diameter of each should be equal to the diameter of the bobbin.
  5. We attach them to one another and glue them. You should get a two-sided picture.
  6. We glue the picture to one side of the bobbin directly onto the tape.
  7. On the edge of both sides (along the wide part of the cylinder) we attach a shiny tape to the glue.
  8. Cut out a narrow strip from the silver tape and glue it in the middle of the tape.
  9. We use the braid to close the joints between the cardboard and the tape, pasting the attached picture from the postcard in a circle.
  10. We paint over the cones and flowers with varnish mixed with gouache. Along the edge of the twig, we slightly tint the needles for the effect of snow.
  11. We beautifully lay the pieces of the twig inside the bobbin, glue the cones on it.

It remains only to attach a string on which the Christmas tree decorations from scotch reels will hold. So that the junction is not visible, we surround it with cones and twigs. And we are waiting for the holiday when our beauty can be hung on tree in the most conspicuous place.
