Lawn aeration is airing the lawn. This process saturates the soil with oxygen, water, that is, rejuvenates it. If you do not ventilate the soil, the appearance of the lawn will suffer, bald spots, moss will appear, the lawn will not be resistant to cold and moisture.

Aeration can be done with the following tools:

• ordinary pitchfork;

• aeration sandals.

Consider sandals. These are shoes with a huge number of hollow knives on the sole. To aerate, simply walk on the lawn. The length of hollow knives usually varies from 8 cm to 15 cm. The main advantage of this method of aeration is simplicity. You don't need to put in a lot of effort, you don't need to connect anything to the mains. You just need to walk on the ground. Everything is simple and straightforward. But is it worth it?

In stores in Russia and Ukraine, sandals for aeration cost 875 rubles. It is quite expensive for such and such sandals.

On Aliexpress, the same sandals cost 1,405 rubles. This amount is even more than in domestic stores. Is it worth it to overpay?

Despite the main advantage of this method of aeration, sandals have a number of disadvantages, namely:

• high price;
• if the soil is very compacted, a person will not have enough weight to push it with sandals;
• it is used only for shallow lawns, since the penetration depth is small;
• sometimes it is not enough just to pierce the soil - it is necessary to perform different methods of aeration.

So is it worth overpaying for such a simple method that will not always be able to achieve the desired effect? A professional aeration unit will perform the entire procedure as it should, since it has various attachments, the ability to deeply penetrate the soil and at the same time remove moss and felt from the soil surface. It is capable of processing an area equal to two large football fields in one day. And the price to use it is equal to the purchase of sandals. Even a pitchfork will be much more effective than sandals in this case, as they can pull the soil out.

Thus, the use of sandals will not produce the desired aeration effect. In addition, mechanical aeration is much longer and more difficult. And there is practically no difference in price. So don't even buy aeration sandals directly from Chinese manufacturers.
