Cherry Care Tips
Cherries adapt to any climatic conditions. It is a cold-resistant crop, and it also tolerates drought well. Unlike other fruit trees, cherries are demanding on top dressing, they need to be fertilized two to three times per season.
During the period of spring frosts, you need to delay the flowering of the cherry so as not to lose the harvest. You also need to pay attention to the cherry before budding.

Digging the soil
In the fall, organic fertilizers should be applied under the tree trunk circle: humus or compost. Next, the soil is dug up. Digging is also carried out after spring frosts in order to break up the soil crust.
Fertilizing cherries
For abundant fruiting, cherries need minerals. Fertilize the soil three times per season. During the melting of snow, nitroammofoska is used as a top dressing. 50-60 grams of fertilizer is applied under each tree.
The cherries are then fed during the flowering period. At 1m2 the area of the trunk circle is applied by 18 grams of potash and nitrogen fertilizer.
The third feeding is done after flowering is complete. They also make 18 grams of potash and 18 grams of phosphorus fertilizers. Mineral substances are scattered dry. When the rains come, the roots of the tree will absorb the nutrients. During the growing season, an infusion of cow manure is added to the soil with the addition of wood ash.
Two ways to keep cherries from freezing
The harvest can be badly affected by spring frosts. In order for the cherry to endure frosts without harming the fruit buds, it is necessary to delay the flowering of the tree. In the spring, shovel the melted snow to the trunk of the cherry. Under it, the soil will remain cold longer, and flowering will linger for about a week.
The second way to delay cherry blossoms until the spring frost has passed is to smoke the tree. Wet straw or sawdust should be spread around the perimeter of the trunk circle, then they need to be set on fire. Blooming of deciduous and flower buds will be delayed by three to four days.
Attracting pollinating insects
In order to increase the yield of berries, you need to attract pollinating insects. To do this, prepare a sweet solution of honey or sugar and spray it with cherry flowers. It is necessary to dilute one tablespoon of honey or two tablespoons of sugar in warm water. Cherries are sprayed with this solution twice a week throughout the entire flowering period.
Watering cherries
After flowering, up to 10 liters of water is poured under each tree. You need to water the cherries abundantly in the summer. In the hot summer, the cherry is watered once a month, pouring one bucket of water into the trunk circle.
