Before the start of frost, young shoots have time to give a full harvest, but not all of the ovary has time to ripen due to the onset of cold weather. Young shoots shed their leaves, but a dried ovary remains on them, which is a distinctive feature of remontant raspberries. So raspberries hibernate until next spring. In this way, remontant raspberries are grown in the southern regions of Russia, receiving two harvests from it.

In central Russia, only one crop from young annual shoots can be harvested from remontant raspberries. In the fall, the raspberries are cut off completely.
