Hanging flower beds with your own hands
Recently, unusual-shaped flower beds, including suspended ones, are becoming more and more popular. Such flower beds will help solve the problem of placing flowers in small areas. Original hanging flower beds can be made with your own hands, using a variety of materials for this, from plastic bottles to the remnants of low tide after a summer cottage renovation. Moreover, in such flower beds you can grow not only flowers, but also strawberries and spicy greens.
You can make a do-it-yourself hanging flower bed:
- from a plastic bottle;
- from the low tide;
- from a bag;
- made of wire.
Hanging flower bed made of plastic bottles
The bottle itself is a ready-made small bed. It remains only to decide in what position it will hang. Based on this, make the necessary holes:
- Horizontal suspension. For this position, you need to cut one side of the bottle to fit the flower. Puncture holes for drainage on the opposite side. The hanging rope is fixed from the neck and to the bottom of the bottle.
- Vertical suspension. For such a flower bed, you can cut off the top or bottom of the bottle (about half the height), or carefully cut through holes to allow planting inside the plants.
Suspended flower bed from low tide
An unnecessary piece of low tide is suitable for creating such a flower bed. Plugs are installed on the sides. Pour nutrient soil at low tide and plant the plants.
Such a flower bed is suspended with a strong wire or rope. In this case, you can hang either one flower bed or make a multi-tiered composition.
Hanging flower bed from a bag
As a flower bed, you can use an old (but whole and dense) burlap bag, or make it out of polyethylene. The further principle is very simple - pour soil into the bag, make drainage holes from below, and holes for planting on the sides. On top of the bag you need to attach a loop for hanging.
Round hanging flower bed
A flower bed-ball with petunias growing in it looks very gorgeous, and you can make it yourself on the basis of wire with large cells. To do this, form a wire frame of the desired volume (if desired, the base of the flower bed can be twisted in the shape of a cylinder). Cover the inside of the ball with foil and cover it with nutritious soil. To be able to irrigate in the center of the flower bed, insert a small tube so that it is flush with the frame.
At the bottom of the suspended flower bed, make several drainage holes so that excess water can drain.
The flowerbed is ready, it remains to plant the petunias: cut the film in each cell in the center, deepen the ground and plant seedlings in the hole. You can hang such a flower bed using a chain.
