When purchasing a good and high-quality boiler, every owner should understand that during its operation this household appliance also requires maintenance. The main element of such a device is the heating element, which is necessary periodically descale
and salt deposits. For this, it is periodically required to drain the water from the boiler, but for a beginner, this process requires certain knowledge. In order not to call an experienced master to solve this issue, but to be able to drain the water on your own if necessary, you need to know some important features of the boiler.
Correct connection of the boiler is important!
So, first of all, one should remember some physical laws and realize that water always enters the boiler under pressure, and therefore, in order to drain it, it is necessary to allow air to freely enter the boiler from the side of the inlet.
However, this is where most of our compatriots encounter difficulties, since most often the boiler connection system is not entirely correct. And since there are several options for making the connection, then at the installation stage no one usually thinks about how to drain the water from the boiler in the future.
Normal standard boiler connection
Most often, specialists from the service center perform the connection according to the boiler manufacturer's passport, where you can see the following diagram:
This type of connection is correct, but it can also actually be improved. We will consider the option of such a connection a little below, and now we will tell you how to drain water from such a boiler:
- The tap for cold water supply to the boiler is closed (No. 2);
- Opening the mixer, the remaining hot water is drained from the system (no. 7);
- The tap (No. 4) opens and the water begins to drain into the sewerage system;
- After all the water has left, the valve (No. 8) is closed.
With such a connection system, it will not be difficult to drain the water from the boiler, however, the owner needs to monitor until all the water leaves the system.
Option for a simplified boiler connection
The figure below shows a typical simple connection, which is often performed by low-skilled professionals.
To drain water with such a connection system, you will need to perform the following operations:
- Close the valve for supplying cold water to the boiler;
- By opening a hot water tap in the kitchen or bathroom, discard the remaining hot water;
- Open the box on the safety valve and drain the water.
Unfortunately, with this type of installation, the water will drain for a very long time and the owner will have to wait at least 40-50 minutes, which cannot be called convenient.
Professional connection of the boiler - quick drainage of water from the boiler
In order to spend a minimum of time on draining the water, it is important to have a professional boiler connection system. If a person has a boiler connected according to the scheme shown in the figure below, then there will be no difficulty in draining the water and the whole process will take no more than 8-10 minutes, depending on the volume of the storage tank.
To drain water from the boiler, perform the following operations:
- Turn off the water supply tap;
- Screw the drain hose to the outlet valve;
- Open the drain supply valve;
- Open the air supply valve.
Well, in order to reduce the number of operations to a minimum, even at the installation stage, you can connect the drain pipes to the sewer system, after which it will become very simple and absolutely affordable for any person to drain the water.
