Greenhouse design for rooting cuttings

greenhouse for rooting cuttings In nurseries and natural farming centers, the rooting of planting material is carried out in special greenhouses. At a summer cottage of a small area, you can make a greenhouse for rooting cuttings. With this growing method, the percentage of seedlings with a developed root system will increase significantly.

Make a greenhouse for rooting flowers or cultivated plants is very simple. When building such a stationary greenhouse, three rules must be observed:

  1. Use a shade net to cover the greenhouse. It is a special covering material with small cells. The mesh allows about 30% of the sunlight into the greenhouse. This indicator is optimal for the rooting of most crops.
  2. Install water spray nozzles in the greenhouse to create a foggy effect. This will increase plant survival and the rate of root formation. In order for all the planting material to take root well, install automatic equipment on the water supply system.
  3. Install additional beams on the arches of the greenhouse, which will strengthen the structure. In addition, such beams will function as “shade mesh blinds”. This will provide the ability to ventilate the greenhouse.

The area under the greenhouse can be concreted. This will allow the cuttings to be rooted in containers and plastic boxes, which is very convenient when transporting seedlings to a permanent planting site.

If you will be rooting cuttings directly in the greenhouse, make separate plant holes. Such holes must be filled with a fertile soil mixture, which consists of sand, rotted manure and leafy earth in equal proportions.

Greenhouse frame

The greenhouse is fenced with a wooden box, which can be made of chipboard. Arcs from a polypropylene pipe are screwed to the box. A wooden beam is also used, which is held together in the shape of a triangle. The central beam is screwed to the formed corner. Water sprayers are screwed into this beam.

Two more beams are screwed on both sides of the central beam at a distance of 25 cm. They are needed in order to support the shadow grid. Several hooks are also screwed to the greenhouse body to secure the mesh.

Automatic watering system

After the frame of the greenhouse is ready, it is covered with a shadow mesh. A hose is drawn under the net to supply water to the sprayers. To use an automatic irrigation system, a humidity sensor must be installed in the greenhouse, and a shut-off valve on the water supply system.
